This week our Cubs (aged 8 to 10 1/2) did some excellent maintenance to our boundary hedge. Bucketing mulch to help support it during the warmer months. They followed this with enhancing their fire lighting skills and cooking smores! Very well deserved too! Thank you Cubs for all your help at our Hut Grounds! Our Squirrels(aged 4 and 5) really proved how great they are at looking after one another! Squirrels had to put on an extra big jumper, eye mask/scarf and lead their buddy through the Cones and back to the start, all whilst keeping them safe! We then had Parachute games in the garden, followed by a snack and story! Today's activities ticks off their 'All Together' Challenge Award and helps our Squirrels gain their highest award - The Chief Acorn Award!

At tonights AGM Beavers revealed our latest totaliser  !We have now raised over £75,000 towards our new hut! On behalf of the fundraising team at 1st Sutton Scouts we offer our incredible thanks for supporting our young people and caring enough to secure they have a future full of happy memories spent with friends learning skills for life. Supporting the young people of Sutton allows them to achieve so much in their Scouting Journey, with, and for them we continue to fundraise to bring them the home for Scouting in Sutton that they so deserve. These events are brought to you by a very small team of supporters and we are very grateful to our ever enthusiastic team of leaders who go above and beyond to support these events in addition to their leadership responsibilities. During 2021 with your support we raised over £20,000 towards our replacement hut. So thank you from the bottom of our hearts for:  Ordering Easter cakes,  Joining us for teas at the Burystead, donating to our Calor Campaign which resulted in a win of a £5k grant. Booking our Wimbledon teas Donating clothes,  Bringing your voices to our Shanty Night,  Supporting Ely Apple Day,  Braving the Halloween house,  refreshments at Sutton Market Cafe,  Ordering from flamingo paperie,  Gift aiding,  Santa treats,  Making and buying gifts at the Church Bazaar, Supporting Christmas draw, Christmas Sleigh.

At this years AGM we proudly awarded every member with activity and/or challenge badges, we congratulated members on achieving their Silver awards and announced our Beaver, Cub and Scout of the Year.  This prestigious award is given for going above and beyond in scouting, helping others, taking part in all activities, and being a positive role model. We congratulate Vivien, Sophie, X and X on being awarded their special one of a kind neckers.

1st Sutton Scout Group were excited that the newest section, Squirrels, opened on Thursday 19th May. Initially, 12 children are part of the drey and they took part in a welcome meeting and built their own craft campfires. Squirrels is run by Wren (Louise) and Puffin (Sam) and supported by Jay (Sarah). The Group plans to open another Beaver Colony in September to accommodate those moving up from Squirrels and are therefore in need of adults to support this section. We have a variety of roles available and training will be given and supported by experienced leaders.
